The first six years of a child's life are the most important to her/his physical, emotional, social and
cognitive development. The goal of the YWCA's Child Care Centers is to provide a warm, nurturing, and
secure environment for every child; develop a positive sense of self; enhance her/his social, cognitive and
physical development; develop a love of learning through discovery and involvement that enables each child
to progress at her/his own page all of which prepares the child to succeed in school.
YWCA childcare programs are accredited by the National Association for the
Education of
Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC is the nation's largest and most influential organization
of early childhood educators and others dedicated to improving the quality of programs for
children from birth through third grade.

Learning 4 Fun After School Program
The YWCA provides after-school care in Worcester and Westborough to meet the needs of working families with
school age children. Our Learning 4 Fun after-school program serves children 5 to 12 years old. This is a
critical period in a child's life, where social, physical and cognitive skills are being learned and developed.
In all of our settings, ideas of self-worth are developed, relationships with peers and adults are experienced,
and young bodies grow strong.
The YWCA's programs are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and are designed to
provide each child with a healthy, positive experience. Every day activities include: homework assistance, arts
and crafts, cooking, computer and technology, games, recreational fitness and more. The YWCA has introduced an
on-line computer program called Zoey's Room for girls only that explores the worlds of math, science and
technology in a fun, interactive manner.
Learning 4 Fun is offered on-site at the Roosevelt and Wawecus Road Elementary Schools in Worcester and at the
YWCA located on Grove Street in Westborough. The program runs Monday through Friday throughout the academic
year. School-age care is provided on professional development days and during school vacations weeks at the
YWCA's main facility in downtown Worcester. In Westborough, full day care is provided on professional
development days, snow days and during school vacation weeks.
