Senior Classes

Studies show that exercise helps reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer, obesity, osteoporosis, and more. Exercise also helps reduce joint swelling and pain in people suffering from arthritis.

That is why the YWCA offers an array of exercise programs geared toward seniors. Our senior classes teach the basics of strength training, physiology, nutrition, and general wellness. Our chair aerobics class, designed by the National Handicapped and Sports Association, is a conditioning program for both disabled and able-bodied individuals. We also offer classes specifically designed to help arthritis sufferers. These classes, offered both in and out of the water, help increase joint flexibility, range of motion, coordination, overall stamina, self-esteem, and increase existing muscle strength.

Youth/Teen Classes

National statistics reveal that American youth are exercising less and less. With all the proven benefits of exercise, such as a healthier heart and low blood pressure, the Health Promtoion Services (HPS) staff at the YWCA have been hard at work instilling healthy habits in young people that will hopefully last a lifetime! Classes geared toward teens and youth, such as Tap and Jazz, Karate for Juniors and Pee Wees and Teen Strength Training, are offered by the YWCA to help promote healthy young minds and bodies. Our Health & Fitness Schedule offers a complete list of classes, both in and out of the water, that benefits children of all ages - pick one up today!

Aerobics

The camaraderie of group exercise, such as aerobics, helps many people stay committed to an exercise program. At the YWCA, our aerobics program offers classes suitable to a wide variety of fitness levels and individual needs that help keep participants motivated! All instructors are certified and our classes challenge each participant at an individual level.

Aerobics classes are held in rooms that feature suspended maple wood floors for cushion and support, climate control, resistance equipment, mats, mirrors and sound systems.

Drop-in aerobic schedules are posted throughout our facility.
