Event Sponsor: Women's Initiative
Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day with this one-day event
devoted to empowering girls ages 11-14 years and encouraging their
participation in sports. This year’s theme, “All In,” reflects the
continued need for girls and women everywhere to join forces and
continue the fight for equality not only in sports, but in all aspects
of society.
Activities include: water exercise, synchronized swimming, and lap swim,
workshops on stress reduction, dance and movement, nutrition/diet, and
team building. This year’s event will also include a revue of women’s
sports attire. This activity is being organized by peer leaders from the
HOPE Coalition. Also, attendees will have the opportunity to participate
in brief roundtable discussions during lunch about the activity and workshop
topics and visit with local women who will talk about their high school/
college sport experiences and share what Title IX has meant to them and
how sports made a difference in their personal and career goals.
Registration fee is $2.00. Scholarships available. Pre-registration required.
